Thermoforming

Thermoforming  – this is a two-stage technological process, during which flat plates or foils, heated to a specific temperature close to the softening temperature characteristic of a given material, enabling the creation of products with specific, desired shapes. In the thermoforming process, various types of materials can be used, such as ABS, polycarbonate, PVC, PETG,  HIPS  . In thermoforming, two techniques can be used, depending on the type of product:

Negative molding

In this case, the material is on top of the concave mold. After heating to the desired temperature, the heated flexible material is pressed into the concave mold cavity.

Positive molding

The difference between the types of thermoforming is mainly due to the shape of the mold used in the production process. In positive forming, the mold should be convex, and the material is drawn onto the mold after heating.

Thermoforming  can be used to produce various types of packaging used in the cosmetics, transport and automotive industries, as well as disposable accessories used in gastronomy. Thermoforming can also be used to produce machine elements commonly used in industry, such as casings, housings and structural parts. The advertising industry uses these techniques to build signs, advertisements and spatial forms.
